For Such a Time as This

God raised a Jewish girl named Esther out of obscurity to become the queen of the most powerful empire in the world at that time. But King Ahasuerus was manipulated into making a royal decree that all the Jews were to be put to death, in all one hundred and twenty-seven provinces, from India to Ethiopia.

But not even the king’s wife could come to see him without an invitation. Esther was terrified to approach him, but Mordecai sent a message to her: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for a time such as this!” (Est 4:13-14)

Esther had no invitation, but she answered Mordecai, ‘I will do it, and if I perish, I perish!’ Listen, if the devil could wipe the Jewish people off the face of the earth, you could throw your Bible away. But that will never happen. The fulfillment of end-time prophecy is dependent upon there being a Jewish people in the land of Israel at the return of Christ!

The book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon, the wisest man in the world. He states 29 times that life without God is vanity and emptiness. Each of us must find our God-given purpose or we will miss out on fulfillment in this life and reward in the next.

God has a general and a specific purpose for everyone He ever created. He wants to reveal your purpose and empower you to fulfill that purpose! God’s power and provision always follows His purpose. (Luke 10:1-9) Esther and Mordecai found their calling in saving the Jews from slaughter and extinction.

The Apostle Paul found his purpose and refused to disobey it. (Acts 19:26) Paul said “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.” The heavenly vision is turning unbelievers from darkness to light, from the power of Satan unto God!

The Heavenly Vision Is What Gives Meaning, Value, And Purpose To Earthly Ambitions

Peter Daniels, an Australian whose life was transformed after he received Christ, said, “I read 3000 biographies to find out what makes the great great!” He discovered that they all had two things in common: 1) Sense of destiny 2) Willingness to bear pain!

In 1952 Albert Schweitzer was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in East Africa. Before he went to Africa, he was already an accomplished theologian, philosopher, and musician. With all the inherent dangers, his friends and family asked him why he was doing this. He replied, “I can do it and I must do it.” Whenever you find out what you can do and what you must do, you are on your way to finding and fulfilling your destiny!

  • What you can do is determined by your abilities and skills
  • What you must do is determined by your passion and calling
  • What you will do is determined by a willingness to surrender your will to the will of God

I CAN DO IT! I MUST DO IT! I WILL DO IT!

Yours for such a time as this!
